We are very sad to announce the passing of George, age 100, on May 7th at Kingston General Hospital. Beloved husband of Sheila (nee Meddings), predeceased, and loving father of James (Susan) Kingston, Clifford (Anne) Napanee, Janice (Phillip) Kingston, Pamela (Bruce) Whitby, Andrew (Kelly) Wellington, and Cameron (Kingston). Fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Bradley, April, Kevin, Wesley, Vanessa, Adrienne, Stephanie, Stuart, Brendon, Candace and Jacqueline. Known as Pop to his grandchildren, George also leaves behind 14 great grandchildren.
Predeceased by brothers Edgar, Doug, Jack and sister Elsie. Son of the late Henry Trott and Ellen Rowe.
George passed away peacefully at KGH surrounded by his family. He was born in Montreal and grew up in St. Lambert, PQ. After many years living in Rosemere, PQ, he moved to Kingston with his family in 1972 and made Kingston his forever home. George retired from Canada Cement Lafarge in 1986 and was fortunate to live 37 years of retirement. George was known for his quiet strength and dedication to his family. He took pride in his ingenuity and ability to use his engineer’s mind to create.
He was passionate about his home and gardens. He loved the outdoors and rarely missed a day driving along old Front Road to look at the lake. He was a huge fan of tennis and golf. He will be remembered mostly for his incredible sense of humour and keeping everybody laughing. Even at age 100 and while in the hospital he continued to make us laugh. He was a very special man and father who is forever loved by those he leaves behind. The family would like to thank the medical team at KGH for their kind care and support.
Family and friends will be received at James Reid Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 1900 John Counter Blvd., on Saturday, June 10th, 2023 at 1:30 pm for the visitation. A Memorial Service celebrating George’s life will take place at 2:30 pm. A Reception will follow the interment at Cataraqui Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
