Hallworth, Inge Grethe, (nee Sorensen)
Mom passed away peacefully at home on April 26, 2023, in her 97th year, her sons by her side. She is survived by her brother Georg and sister Liss in Denmark, son David (Tamy) and stepson Bill (Sharon); grandsons Craig (Cindy) and Trevor (Niamh); grand-daughters Lisa (Charlie) and Dawn (Brad); great-grandsons Torin, Reid, Jack, Wyatt, Brandon and Kristian; great-grandaughters Michaela, Morgan, Kara and Ashley. Predeceased by her brother Paul, husband Jim and stepson Norman (Colleen). She will be missed by everyone that had the good fortune to meet her and especially her dear friends Joette, Jim, Colleen, Pauline, Ian and Nadine, along with all the remaining Loughboro gang here and in the states.
Mom came to Canada from Denmark after the war and met our father in Montreal where he was an Import/export executive at Cellanese Industries Ltd. They married in 1953 in what was in those days a fine society wedding.
CIL relocated Dad to Kingston in 1970 after the FLQ crisis, and he went on to manage Hartford Fibers on Progress Ave. We had one of the first homes in Bayridge on Sussex Dr.
After 18 years as a homemaker, Mom took work for the first time managing the Estee Lauder counter at Sears. She was spotted by an American chap named Bob Richwine, who came to watch her at the store for days on end before finally approaching her, to offer her the role of managing his resort, Loughboro Lake Inn in Battersea. The rest is local history.
Mom managed the famous fishing destination and the countless local fishing guides who worked it for 25 years, winning many American, Canadian and state tourism ambassador awards. Mom retired with old Bob’s passing in the mid 90's as the world of Loughboro moved into another era.
In retirement, Mom took up being absolutely delightful, helpful and kind to everyone she encountered in any way and all the time, no exceptions. Pure sunshine in every person’s world she encountered.
Through her 80's and early 90's up to Covid, she continued to walk an hour a day and attend gym at the Y twice a week, outperforming people 20 years her junior. She was a tough mother to us boys but eventually our best friend and my backstop. She has definitely gone to heaven, which is good for me, because without her, they would never let me in.
Thanks to Dr's Trebuss and Bagg at Providence Care for showing up, and her excellent homecare supporters. In lieu of flowers, maybe just find some way to support our nurses in their fight with these destructive corporate-controlled governments.
A Celebration of Life will be held at James Reid Celebration Centre (please enter from the rear) on May 7, 2023 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.
