To the Family. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe I met Mr Chisholm in Lahr Germany in perhaps July 1979 on the day I arrived there from Canada on a posting We were in a lineup to check in to the base and I think he was one person behind me in the lineup. I believe he came there as CSM of Maintenance Company. I was going to HQ CFE. Chatted with him. He was so friendly, calm, helping, upbeat obviously with quite a few years in the military even then. I was 26, a long way from home, standing in a lineup, with no one I actually knew with in three thousand miles and I thought....."What a great guy". I never forgot that day after 43 years. I think we both went to the same German church in downtown Lahr, used by the Canadian military on Sundays under some sort of rental agreement. Other than Sundays, I never saw him after that year, as I was posted to Baden Soellengen a year later. I got out of the military in 1984. As I had a Scottish name, I never forgot his. Not a lot of Chisholm's going around, or MacMillan's for that matter. Just wanted to pass on my sympathy and to let you know what a impact he had on people, in small and perhaps big ways, and sometimes he probably didn't know what his positive attitude did for people. I'll be 70 in August....never forgot that day in the lineup. Ernie
