Obituary of Anne Bock

(Gertrude) Anne Bock It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Anne Bock, nee Griffith, 85, of Kingston, Ontario. She passed away peacefully on March 21, 2023 after a long struggle with dementia with family by her side. She is pre-deceased by her older brothers Tony (Betty) and Tom (Marion), and younger sister Mary Lou, and their parents Dr. Thomas Clark and Frances Griffith. Anne is survived by Elgin, her husband of 61 years, son Dean (Aerin) living in Kington, her daughter Jennifer (Ian) near Carleton Place, and son Kerry (wife Neni) and grandson Kaleb of Kitchener, Ontario. Born in Tottenham, Ontario Anne attended elementary school in Woodbridge and then high school in Weston, Ontario. As a young girl her primary sporting interest was tennis, winning numerous tournaments around Toronto. Later in life coming to enjoy downhill skiing and never missing a Ladies Day on the hill in Barrys Bay when living there. Her lifelong love of music saw her achieve the higher levels of piano and voice through the Royal Conservatory, singing in choirs and as soprano soloist, as well as accompanying on piano and organ. She was an avid gardener and steward of her flowerbeds, and very accomplished with a sewing machine, making clothing and many creative gifts and decorative things over the years. A devoted and caring mother, she raised her 3 children in the many locations they lived throughout Ontario, making friends in each, but always with time to assist those in need. Her greatest joy was being Nanna to her beloved grandson Kaleb, who she doted on, ever anxious for more pictures and stories when she could not be close. For the last 18 years of her working life, she was in the personnel office at the former Kingston Psychiatric Hospital, where she was very happy in her close-knit and much-loved team there. Her celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 pm on Saturday, April 1st at James Reid Funeral home on Counter Street in Kingston. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to is encouraged to consider a donation to a dementia or Alzheimer’s charity of your choice, with our appreciation. Anne’s ashes will be interred in the Griffith family plot in Weston, Ontario at a future date. Her family also wishes to thank the staff of Arbour Heights LTC for all of their care and kindness during these past two years. As well to Rennie Ledoux and her dog Reggie who’s surprise visits near the end brought some delight and magic to mom.
