Obituary of Bob Robinson
Robert “Bob” Robinson - Ontario Hydro - Retired
1938 - 2023
Robert Humphrey Robinson passed away peacefully at Kingston General Hospital on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
Beloved husband to Deanne, Bob was predeceased by his parents Holland “Hollie” and Margaret “Maggie” Robinson and his cherished aunts Elizabeth “Lizzie” Robinson and Mary Hobbs. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Angus (the late Manson), brother, Bill Robinson (Marg) and brother-in-law, Milton Woodman (late Doreen). Father to Blair Robinson (Daina Kalnins) and Mary-Lynn Huff (Doug) and predeceased by stepdaughter, Heather McMachen. Proud grandfather to Steacy Huff, Natali and Matis Robinson. Uncle to Gwen Morris (Bryan), Nancy Gibbons (Wayne), Scott Robinson (the late Theresa Fritz) and the late Jamie Robinson.
Bob was born and raised on a dairy farm in Torbolton, Ontario in the Ottawa Valley and was very proud of those roots. He joined Ontario Hydro as a lineman at 18 years of age, retiring as an Area Lines Supervisor for the Kingston Region, some 37 years later. He made many lifelong friendships through “Hydro” and in the communities that he worked in Renfrew, Ottawa, Morrisburg and Kingston. In retirement, while always handy and a diligent wood-splitter, Bob most enjoyed the many rounds of golf and friendships made on the course and in the clubhouse, at the Colonnade Golf and Country Club.
Over the last several months, Bob benefited from the wonderful care of staff at Hotel Dieu Hospital, Kingston General Hospital, Providence Care Centre and Bayshore Home Health, and he was truly appreciative of that. Special thanks to the nurses, doctors and health care staff on Kidd 7 at KGH for the care, compassion and dignity extended to Bob in his final days. Additional thanks to Bob’s dear neighbours, Alex and Lana LeBlanc and their children, Colin and Logan, who were always available to lend a hand, a ride or a smile, whenever needed.
A Celebration of Life for Bob will be held at the Colonnade Golf and Country Club, on Sunday, April 23rd at 12:00 pm. A private graveside service with family will be held separately. If wished, donations may be made in Bob’s name to a charity of choice.
