Obituary of Siham Bassili
BASSILI, Siham Fahmy (LOZA)
1934-2023
After a lifetime dedicated to her family and service to her Coptic Orthodox community, Siham entered peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KGH) in her 89th year. Loving mother to Ash (Deanne) and Mona Rasmussen (Grant) and caring Teta to Alexander, Nastasia, Eliot (Philippa), Nicole, Adison (Shelby), and Grace. Fondly remembered by her surviving siblings Gamal, Amal, Kamal, and Wagdy, and adored by her many nieces and nephews as ‘Tante Sousou’.
Born in Asyut, Egypt, Siham immigrated to Canada in 1967 with a BComm, beginning her long career in finance with PPG, Bombardier, and Hamad General Hospital in Qatar, followed by 20 years as appointed Treasurer and founding member of her Church.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, from 11:00-12:00 at James Reid Funeral Home (1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston ON) followed by a 1:00 pm service at Saint Mena Coptic Orthodox Church (1281 Midland Avenue Kingston, ON). A reception to celebrate Siham will follow at 3 pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Siham’s memory may be made to St. Mena Coptic Orthodox Church or Bless Canada .
