William Robert Benton

Passed away peacefully,  surrounded by family, after a six week struggle in the Kingston Health Sciences Centre on January 4, 2023. 

Bill, age 86, was a devoted husband of 62 years to Doreen Benton (Kendall). Beloved Dad to Donna (Mario Cantin) of Trois Rivières, Robert of Sherbrooke and Allan (Kathy Kolody) of Kingston. Bill will be sadly missed by his granddaughters, Stephanie, Danielle and Lauren. Cherished brother to Beverley DeCorso (Ted) and predeceased by his brother David (Martina). Bill will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. 

Bill was born to Doris and Robert Benton in Lennoxville, Quebec and lived much of his life in Quebec. His dedicated career in the textile industry at Three Rivers Knit Printers led him to a much deserved retirement. He and Doreen moved to Kingston in 2003 to be close to their grandchildren. 

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the wonderful and very caring staff of the Renal Unit at KHSC, the entire staff of Davies 3 and the Cardiology team who have cared for Bill these last weeks and months. Special thanks to Dr. Marian Luka for her devoted care of Bill. 

Arrangements entrusted to James Reid Funeral home, 1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston, Ontario.  Visitation will take place from 2-4pm on Monday, January 16, 2023, followed by Liturgy of the Word service at 4:15pm.  Refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations can be made to the  U.H.K.F. (Renal Unit at the KHSC).
