Obituary of Nigel Retchless

Retchless; Nigel - After a brief battle with cancer, he passed away at Providence Care Hospital on January 6, 2023 with his wife Carolann (nee Kelly) and family at his side.

Nigel is survived by Carolann, his brothers , John (JoAnne) and Andrew (Marie-Pier), his sisters-in-law Gail Beck and Cheryl Kelly, nephews Rob Retchless (Ashley), Jamie Retchless, Greg Beck (Tina), Sean Beck (Jenn) and their families. Predeceased by his parents Bob and Betty Retchless and brother-in-law Cal Kelly (Lynn).

Nigel was born in England and emigrated to Canada at the age of 8. Nigel was a lifelong and passionate athlete and fan of many sports. He especially enjoyed curling and golfing. He loved his Montreal Alouettes and Montreal Canadiens. He enjoyed gardening and spending time doing activities with his loved ones.

Nigel was caring, compassionate and loved people. He made any gathering more lively and interesting and was a good friend to all. He was a wonderful man and all who knew him will miss him greatly.

Cremation has already taken place at James Reid Funeral Home. The family will be accepting visitors on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 392 Palace Road from 10:00 - 10:50 am followed by a Mass at 11:00 am. There will be a private family burial in Belleville at a later date. For those unable to attend in person, please join by livestream by clicking here.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to UHKF - Cancer Clinic. 

The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to all the nurses, doctors and staff at KGH and Providence Care over the last few months.
