Obituary of Grace Eileen Cox

COX, Grace Eileen (nee McCorriston)

Grace Eileen Cox was born in Kingston, ON, October 4, 1944, and passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022.

Grace graduated from Queen’s University receiving a BA, which she used to pursue a career in teaching in the elementary school system. Her love for teaching children was apparent in and out of the classroom.

Grace was blessed with an amazing talent for playing the piano, which she enjoyed playing at church, in the community and at home for her family.

Her kind nature and unconditional love for her children and grandchildren will always be treasured. Grace was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

Grace, beloved wife of the late John Orville Cox (2016) and loving mother of Cathy Whalen, Shelley Cox and Jeff Cox (Jennifer). Cherished grandmother of Colby Sweet, Nathan and Reed Whalen, and Jacob and Calla Cox. Grace was predeceased by her dear sister Doris Randall (Jim), sisters-in-law Delesslyn Costello, Mildred Potter, Dianne Johnston, and brother-in-law Rodney Cox. She will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law Margo St. Antoine (Joe) and her many nieces and nephews.

A private family service celebrating Grace’s life will be held in the chapel of the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., followed by burial at Cataraqui Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in Grace’s memory may be made to the Kingston Standard Church (https://www.kschurch.ca/give/).
