Obituary of Thomas John (TJ) Walker

August 20, 1965 - December 8, 2022

It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing of TJ Walker, age 57, on Thursday, December 8 in his home surrounded by his loved ones after a brief battle with ALS. TJ was born in Toronto and grew up in the Odessa area where he went to school and started working in the construction industry out of high school. He took much pride in his work as an equipment operator. He enjoyed camping with his camping family, going to Nascar and dirt track races with his buddies and most of all, being surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Beloved husband of 34 years to Karen (Treadgold), proud father of Christopher (Mallory), Brandon (Katie), Kyle (Kasey), and Matthew, devoted Poppa to his beautiful granddaughters Paisley and Adelaine (his pride and joy). He is predeceased by his Stepfather, Harold Fairbanks, and will be deeply missed by his mother Carol Fairbanks and brother Ryan Fairbanks. Also left with loving memories are his brother and sister-in-law Ken and Alison Treadgold, nieces Brandy and Hailey, nephew Justin and many friends.

The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the nurses and doctors at KGH ICU who cared for TJ when he first went to hospital, to the dedicated and compassionate team of caregivers over the last nine months at Providence Care, Lakeview 2, there are not enough words to express our gratitude. The love and support TJ received from his nurses, who became his friends and part of our family, was nothing short of amazing. To Dr. Matthews palliative care team, thank you for your compassion and support in his last hours.

Cremation has been entrusted to James Reid Funeral Home, and a celebration of life will be held in the James Reid Reception Room on Sunday, December 11th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the ALS Society of Canada or Diabetes Canada.
