RICHARD (“DICK”) GORDON FLEMING
Peacefully at Kingston on November 13th, 2022, age 92.
Selwyn College, Cambridge, Anglican Priest, loyal public servant, volunteer, sometime Dean of Ontario, Rector of Kingston and Incumbent of St. George’s Cathedral. Dick is survived by his much-loved partner, companion and friend, Cathy Dunne; his daughters, Gail (Dennis), Ellen, Martha and son, Paul (Melinda); grandchildren Ian, Paul, Madeleine and Sophia; and many nieces and nephews, especially Christy and John McLean; the Mallons and partners; and his dear friend, Geoff Quirt. He loved them all.
Dick appreciated his friends in the Church, the Ministry of Community and Social Services, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and in his rich and extensive volunteer world, especially at Kingston General Hospital and the Seniors Centre. Special thanks to his golfing and curling pals in Kingston and Toronto for all those good years! He also very much appreciated his many walks with all the huskies in his life over the years, including Gisele, Freddie, Flash, Brie and Brooke, and their unfailing loyalty and affection.
There will be a Memorial service for Dick at St. George’s Cathedral, Kingston, Ontario on Wednesday November 23rd, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception in the Great Hall of the Cathedral. There will be a private interment of Dick’s ashes in the Oakland Cemetery, Brockville, Ontario. Memorial gifts will be gratefully received by UHKF and the Primates World Relief Fund (Anglican).
