Obituary of Michael Fader

Michael Fader

April 1954 - October 2022

Our former Canadian Armed Forces SkyHawk made his last jump and flew away into blue skies. With profound sadness, we announce the death of Michael Fader. Soldier, poet, maple syrup maker, problem solver extraordinaire, sourdough baker, truth speaker, grower of things, coupon clipper, woodworker, silversmith, survivor, Jack of All Trades, helper of many, keeper of much, gifted hugger, devoted husband, gentleman.

Forever cherished by his wife, Christine, his partner and best friend of 25 years. They held each other’s hands and hearts as long as they possibly could. Revered big “Bother” to siblings Pat, Lilly, Dan, Leonard, Linda, Roger, Art, Cathy. Predeceased by siblings Suzanne, Gary, and Steven. Sadly missed by in-laws Mike and Brenda Bardon, Elizabeth Bardon and Marc LaPlante as well as additional family, friends, neighbours, and colleagues more numerous than a serious introvert might expect.

A gathering will be held in the James Reid Reception Centre (please use rear entrance), 1900 John Counter Blvd., on Sunday, November 6 from 1-3 PM. Formal remarks at 1:30. Out of respect for other vulnerable people like Michael, please wear a mask if you plan to attend.

Thank you to oncology and complex medical/palliative staff at PCH and KGH. Should you wish to donate, please consider Lung Cancer Canada or the White Ribbon Project. Anyone with lungs can get lung cancer. It is the #1 cancer killer, but research is radically under-funded, due to stigma.

Michael often quipped, “Only the good die young, so I should be safe." He was one of the good ones.
