Obituary of Chester Fredrick Copeland
Chester Frederick Copeland
May 26, 1942 – October 12, 2022
It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Chester Copeland. Chester was born in Cornwall, Ontario. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Joyce Copeland (nee Hall) and siblings, Wilfred Copeland and Judy Peever, as well as his nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Russell Wilfred Copeland and Bessie Copeland (nee Mullin) and his sister, Beverly Kirkpatrick.
Chester was in the Canadian Armed Forces from June 1958 to October 1963, serving with the UN Peace Keeping Force in Egypt from June 1960 to June 1961. Afterwards, he spent most of his working life in the IT sector, starting out as a computer technician. He and Joyce spent many happy years building and enjoying their cottage on Black Donald Lake in the Calabogie area. After retirement they travelled to a number of places in the U.S. and Canada. They particularly enjoyed their trip to Newfoundland. Chester loved lighthouses and sailboats. He so enjoyed volunteering at CORK.
Chester delighted in his neighbourhood, especially his long-time friendship with Deepa and Rob Martell and their two boys Rylan and Cameron. He will be greatly missed by his family, Joyce’s family, neighbours and friends.
In keeping with Chester’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a digital tribute will be available in late October. Friends wanting to obtain a copy of Chester's digital tribute are invited to reach out to his family directly or contact the James Reid Funeral Home by phone (613-544-3411) or email at info@jamesreidfuneralhome.com.
