Obituary of Jacobus Wynstok
WYNSTOK, Jacobus (Jack, Cor)
August 17, 1932 - September 12, 2022
I am heartbroken to announce the passing of my father, Jack Wynstok, with my wife and I by his side, he passed peacefully after a long battle with cancer on September 12, 2022, at Providence Care Hospital at the age of 90. Married to Klazina Wynstok (Jonker), dad and mom were 64 years married . He left to morn his loving daughter Jeannette Feld (Ray) and loving son Pieter Wynstok (Jan ). Dad had 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
On July 19, 1967, my dad brought his family over from the Netherlands to his new home he called Canada. My dad was a very proud Dutchman. His first job was working at a gas station for his uncle Morris which was located on Princess and Division Street. One day, he was pumping gas and cleaning the window for a customer when the gentleman asked if he was good at cleaning cars as he needed it done for his daughter’s wedding that Saturday. Dad replied yes. The gentleman told dad if you do a good job for the wedding, then on Monday I will come by and hand you a paper so you can go to the unemployment office to apply for a job, which was a gardening job on the McNaughton base. The following day, dad got his dream job, which is what he always wanted, to become a gardener. As years passed dad became Head Gardener.
In February of 1970 mom and dad bought their first house in Bellrock. When spring came his dream came true to be able to turn his yard into what he wanted, the spotlight yard of Bellrock. Not only did he do it for a living but when he came home from work he started working on his yard. For those who knew our dad very well, you know what I mean. Dad was a quiet man, well sometimes. His favorite line was “IF YOU AIN'T DUTCH YOU AIN'T MUCH”. His favorite two tunes were “My Way” and “Moon River” as my sister and I heard it a lot growing up. Dad loved to play his organ, but he could never read notes. He was a family man working five days a week, but on Saturday or Sundays he would get up early and take the family to the beach in Mallorytown and spend the day.
The family will receive friends at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston, Friday, September 16th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Funeral service will take place Saturday, September 17th at 11am at the First Christian Reformed Church 310 Kingscourt Ave, Kingston. The resting place of our father will be Monday, September 19th at 1030 am at the Cataraqui Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Kingston Humane Society .
