Obituary of Keith Joseph Payne
PAYNE, Keith Joseph
1926- 2022
As the Sun rose Friday, September 2, 2022, so did dear Keith Joseph Payne. Keith the "Hammer" Payne pounded out 96 years living the dream with his sweetie of 73 years Elinor Payne at his James St. homestead and his dream vacation home on Howe Island. Keith born July 28, 1926 was a native to both Wolfe Island and Kingston, a true Kingstonian raised by the late Earl and Harriet (Dawson) Payne of Wolfe Island.
Big Brother to Alice Graham (the late Cliff) and the late sister Rose (Jack Baker). Keith is survived by his wife Elinor J. Payne, son Christopher and Bridget (Walker) Payne and his loved grandchildren Carson and Calista Payne. Keith our "Silver Haired Fox" known for his candidness and maker of loud smelly noises will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews in the Payne clan as well as his many neighbouring family and friends.
Keith was a Carpenter by trade and proud owner of Payne's Building Service modeling the Kingston and surrounding area for over 70 years. Anyone who new Keith felt his passion and professionalism for a hard day's work and was usually charmed with his skillful trade of the "gift of gab". Keith will be sadly missed but we are comforted knowing his faith and love of family has brought him home to his final resting place St. John the Apostle Church where he practiced his faith as a alter boy, exchanged wedding vows, baptized his grandchildren, celebrated his Platinum anniversary, renovated the interior and exterior of the Church and Banquet Hall, honorably worshiped the Lord as a Eucharistic Minister, lector and served as an active member on the Parish Council providing spiritual and financial support in the operations of the Church. Visitation for such an honorable man will be celebrated with family and friends at his second home St. John the Apostle Catholic Church 88 Patrick St. Monday, September 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. followed by mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Expressions of sympathy donations can be made to St John the Apostle Church or to the Pete Petersen Basketball League supporting his love of faith, family and community.
Our sincere thanks and appreciation for their compassionate care to KGH and all the North End Clinic doctors and caregivers who shared with his care. Rest in Peace Keith Payne... You absolutely Nailed it !
