Obituary of William George Jones
William “Bill” George Jones, aged 94, passed away peacefully in Kingston on August 12, 2022. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 70 years, Ellen Jones (nee Jacques), daughter Linda Keeley and son-in-law Bill, son Peter and daughter-in-law, Danielle, grandchildren Will (Naomi), Bethany, Kristien (Darren), Chelsea (Alanna), Chris (Kassie) and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Quentin, Hayden, Lillian, Lucas, Logan, Archer, Lyra, and Minerva.
Bill was pre-deceased by brother Raymond Jones, sister Mildred Blair and brother Milton (Mitty) Jones.Bill spent his youth in Trois-Rivieres enjoying all sports and ultimately played goaltender for professional elite AHL farm teams as well as a brief stint in England. His love of travel took him to Europe, Ireland, South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand. He spent many happy weekends at Lac Guinness fishing with family and friends and many memorable weeks at a family cottage in Cavendish, PEI. Later in life he developed a love for golf and birdwatching.
All will miss his gentle sense of humor and general sense of adventure.
The family expresses their gratitude to the staff at the Aspira Waterford residence for the care he received in his final days. A private family gathering was held prior to cremation. Interment will be in Trois-Rivieres, at a later date. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held at the Waterford Retirement Residence, 471 Cataraqui Woods Drive., Kingston, on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. For those who wish, donations may be made to Ducks Unlimited or The Morgan Arboretum.
