Obituary of Joan Patsey Fenton

Joan Patsey Fenton (nee Potter) April 12, 1931 - July 1, 2022

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother Joan Fenton at Providence Manor in Kingston. Mom will be reunited with her husband Harold, daughter Janet and special friend Hendrick Yntema.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Roy (Maureen), Ruth Long, Marilyn Hunt (William), Sandra Redden (Tim Anderson), and Michael. Known as Nanny, she will be missed by her grandchildren; Janet Rozsa (Imre), Nicole Fenton, Curtis Long (Michelle), Martin Long, Krista Johns (Matt), Lindsay Thompson (Joe), Alexis Hodgson (Justin), Mackenzie Tosh, Kassandra Fuller (Kyle Slack), and Michael Fenton Jr. Mom was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren.

Mom was born in Kingston to Albert and Maud Potter. She was the second youngest of eight children all of whom have predeceased her except for her youngest brother Kenneth Potter (Marg) who she adored. We would like to extend thanks and gratitude to the staff of Rosewood Retirement Home and Montreal 5 at Providence Manor who cared for Mom with a wonderful sense of humour.

Mom is being held in the loving care of James Reid Funeral Home on John Counter Blvd. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 2:30 pm. Burial to take place at Cataraqui Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the James Reid Funeral Home Reception Centre. Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) – Providence Care Patient Care Fund.
