Mark Jefferey Day
Peacefully at Kingston General Hospital on Monday, June 27, 2022 in only his 46th year. Devoted father to his beloved daughter Justine Day of Kingston. Sadly missed by his companion Michelle Gervais. Loving brother to Stephanie Day of Brampton. Survived by his parents David and Marie Day of Kingston. Proud uncle to Owen and Gia MacPherson. Lovingly remembered by his grandmother Ruth Day and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Mark was predeceased by his grandparents Wilford and Edna Leakey, grandfather Arnold Day and his cousin Brian Leakey.
Mark endured a long and hard-fought battle with Crohn’s Disease. He fought bravely for many years and never gave up. He was a dedicated father, son, brother, employee and friend who was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. First and foremost, Mark was totally devoted to his daughter Justine, who was the pride of his life.
Mark’s love of bikes has progressed from bicycles to dirt bikes, to sports bikes to his current cruiser. During his youth, Mark loved playing hockey and later learned to play the guitar and drums. He spent the last 3 years of his life travelling and touring the local area with Michelle. He loved experiencing new sights, wines and foods with her and forging new friendships. His dedication, kindness and generosity will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
We would like to thank Doctors Bennett, Jalink and Nanji, as well as the doctors in the ICU at KGH. Thanks also to the nurses for their care in the last four months, as well as R.T. and Allan in physio and all the support workers. Thanks to all.
Cremation has taken place. Mark’s family will receive friends at the James Reid Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Mark’s life will be held in the James Reid Reception Centre on Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada would be appreciated by his family.
