Obituary of Germaine Landis

Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 13, 2022. Germaine will continue to be loved and remembered by her children, Genevieve, Bernadette Case (Gary), and Michael (Lisa), her grandchildren (Tiffany, Christopher, Nicolas, Alexander, Luc and Natalie), her sister Yvonne Martin (George) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George Landis, her parents Louis and Marie Manquat, and siblings, Marie-Louise, Fernande, Louis and Anne-Marie.

Born in France, Germaine lived a heroic life, serving in the French Resistance for which she was awarded the Resistance Medal and Combatant's Cross for her service and bravery during WWII. Following the war, Germaine met her husband George, a Canadian military officer who was stationed in her hometown of Metz. She moved to Canada, where she built her family with George, but France always had a special place in her heart. Over the years, she traveled numerous times to France with her children and grandchildren to visit family and to enjoy the beautiful French culture, history and architecture.

Germaine lived a vibrant and active life well into her 90s. While she will be dearly missed, Germaine/Maman/Mémé left her family with an infinity of love and memories that will be cherished for generations.
