Obituary of Clark Carnegie
CARNEGIE; Herbert Clark – Peacefully at Rideaucrest, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. Beloved husband and best friend of Beth Carnegie. Clark will be dearly missed by his children David (Diana), Donna Graves (Donnie), Donald (Valerie), step-daughter Pamela Robinson (Chris Gore) and lovingly remembered by grandchildren Aaron, Colin, Leland, Christopher, Patrick, Heather, Sarah, Laura, Ruby, and Hilary, great-grandchildren, Riley, William, Benjamin, Alex, Evelyn, Eamen, and Isla.
Clark was predeceased by his former spouse Bette-Ann Carnegie, his sister Gloria Jackson (Lyle), and brother Clifford Carnegie.
Clark was born in Kingston, attended Victoria School and KCVI. As a child spent the winters and attended school in New Port Richey. With family business operating the ferries between Gananoque and Clayton, N.Y., when the St. Lawrence River froze over, the family enjoyed winters in New Port Richey, Florida.
Clark had a strong passion for sports and played baseball as a catcher winning the City Championship three times. Clark was a life member of the Royal Kingston Curling Club. He was inducted on the Royal Kingston Curling Club Wall of Fame in 2003 for his contribution and winning teams.
Clark was an avid gardener, his rock garden winning awards from the City of Kingston. Clark’s pet alligator, Edger, was remembered by many folks until he was donated to the Brockville Zoo. Clark had a great sense of humour and was a teller of many stories.
Clark was the manager of family owned business, Carnegie Grill Restaurant in Kingston. He operated the souvenir and food sales for the Miss Kingston Boat Lines. Clark was Plant Manager of K-D Manufacturing. After retiring from K-D, he worked part time at Canadian Tire in the hardware department.
Clark and Beth loved to travel around the world and enjoyed many cruises with family and friends. Clark and Beth were snowbirds for 20 years and lived in Florida at the Seahorse Mobile Home Park where they enjoyed the many wonderful friends and activities.
Clark’s family wishes to extend sincere gratitude and deepest thanks to the staff at Rideaucrest Home for the loving and compassionate care they provided.
A public service will take place at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd, on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 1:00 pm, followed by inurnment at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. The family will be accepting visitors after the inurnment in the Celebration Centre at James Reid Funeral Home. Please enter through rear of the building. All in attendance will be encouraged to wear a mask. Donations may be made in Clark’s name to The Arthur Child Heritage Museum, or a charity of your choice.
