CAMPBELL, Duane Elwood
The family of Duane Elwood Campbell of Loyalist, Ontario is saddened to announce his passing on May 20, 2022 at the age of 91.
Duane spent his career as a high school industrial arts teacher and had a special gift with occupational students. He was a farmer at heart and loved the land. He was ahead of his time in living a healthy, active lifestyle, growing much of his own food and operating a Pick-Your-Own strawberry farm not far from the family farm where he grew up. He loved good food and good books. Duane was a life long learner pursuing a wide range of interests, including woodworking, golf, painting, darts, bowling and even cooking later in life.
Duane is survived by his wife, Rita (nee Casey), his brother Neil, his children Deborah (Ken), Craig and Christine (Rick), grandchildren Adrianne (Geordan), Madeleine, Cailin (Alex) and Rhys and great-grandchildren Lorelei and Victor. He will be missed by his cousins, as well as his niece Krystal and many Peterborough nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his beloved son Rory, parents Elwood and Veda Campbell, Aunt Madeline and Uncles Frank Lindsay, Eber Campbell and Howard Campbell.
Family and friends will be received at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Boulevard on Wednesday, May 25 between the hours of 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm and on Thursday, May 26 from 10:00 am until 10:45 am. The funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 11:00 am with Mr. Mike Mundell officiating. Interment at Sandhill Cemetery, Battersea will be followed by a reception in the James Reid Reception Centre. Duane’s family would prefer that guests attending the visitation and service be respectful of their wishes of wearing a mask.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Duane’s memory may be made to the Kingston Humane Society or, Partner’s in Mission Food Bank.
