Obituary of Gladys Irene Steinpatz

Steinpatz, Gladys Irene

(nee Burrell)

January 18, 1937 - May 4, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gladys on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 8:00 pm, in the presence of all her children, at Kingston Health Sciences Centre, following a short but difficult illness.

She leaves behind her beloved husband Fred, two months short of their 65th wedding anniversary, as well as her children, Karen Giroux and husband Larry of Mascouche, Quebec, Randy and wife Laura of Kingston and Rene of Kingston.

Fondly remembered by her granddaughter Thea and husband Jeff of Parry Sound, granddaughter Chloe and her husband Peter, and great-granddaughter Lalita of Parry Sound, granddaughter Sayble of Toronto, and grandson Ryan of Eganville, and by extended family, Brooke, Brittany and Anthony.

Predeceased by her parents Marcial and Irene, brother Ken and sister Audrey. Survived by her brothers Glen, Floyd, Cecil, Orville and sisters Elaine and Marilyn. Also survived by special friends Lenie VanLeuwen and Iris Lester.

Gladys led a full life with Fred and supported him in the family business throughout their years together. Her passion for life centered on her faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Gladys loved music and was an accomplished piano player, and ballroom dancer. She enjoyed travel, snow skiing, boating and water skiing with her family. Gladys enjoyed a full social life and her humorous approach was always present. The many photo albums that she maintained and displayed conveyed her joy and pride of family; and her love of life. Many will remember her as a bank teller at Canada Trust for twenty years.

Gladys' family will receive friends at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, on Thursday, May 19 from 1:00 pm until 1:50 pm, with the service beginning in the chapel at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow in the James Reid Reception Centre. Respecting the wishes of the family, we request that all attending wear face masks and follow all sanitizing protocols.

Please share any memories of Gladys with the family for inclusion in the service. If desired, you may make a donation in Gladys' memory to a charity of your choice.
