Obituary of Cyrus Hoshang Irani

Passed away surrounded by his family at Providence Manor on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Cyrus was born in Bombay, India in 1945 to Hoshang and Banu Irani. He became a Canadian Citizen in 1978 after immigrating from India n 1967 and later, from the U.S. in 1972. Cyrus spent the rest of his life in Amherstview, Ontario. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing with his nephew and niece in Lake Ontario. After graduating with honours in Nuclear and Metallurgical Engineering, from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Cyrus obtained a full scholarship from the School of Mines, in Rolla Missouri, USA and completed his PhD in Metallurgical Engineering. Cyrus immigrated to Canada to obtain a second PhD in Nuclear Engineering from Queen's University.

Thereafter, he worked at Northern Telecom in Engineering department for 24 years before starting his own consulting practice. Cyrus will be missed by his brother Dara (late Thrity), his brother Noshir & sister-in-law Farida, his sister Avan and his brother-in-law Claude and his many nieces and nephews in India, France, US and Canada. 

Cyrus' family would like to express their gratitude for the care he received from the Windsor Retirement Residence, Amherstview, all the staff and doctors at Kingston Health Sciences Centre Transitional Care Unit and to the staff of Providence Manor.
