Obituary of Barbara Lynne Lawson
Barbara Lynne Lawson
Died peacefully on Tuesday April 5, 2022 at KGH. Born in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton on August 26, 1963. Predeceased by her parents Gavin and Roslyn Lawson.
She will be missed greatly by her partner and love Richard Abbott; her brother Tom (Cindy) Lawson, her sisters Janet Flynn and Jean Lawson. Remembered fondly by niece Melissa (Evan) Paterson & nephews Robbie (Candace) Lawson, Bradley (Leah) Flynn and Michael (Katey) Lawson; she adored her great-nieces Brooklynn and Peyton Lawson & great-nephew Cohen Flynn; and, of course, her beloved fur babies Ketchup, Jodi, Jazi and Angus.
Barb lived a life full of family, friends, and adventures. She was a long time employee at Queen’s University and also worked a few years at Duke University in the U.S.
She travelled near and far, to visit family in Scotland, Cape Breton and British Columbia and to have experiences closer to home. Barb was creative and a gifted craftsperson who made many gifts for family and friends. She had a lot of joy in her life and faced things head on with a smile and a twinkle in her eye.
Barb had a large circle of friends who supported her and shared special times throughout her life, co-workers, colleagues, volunteers, and more, far too many to mention by name but no less valuable to her life. She loved you all.
Much appreciation to Dr. Matthews and nurse Tracy who guided her in her treatment; the staff at the Kingston Cancer Centre, KGH & KGH Emergency who all treated Barb with grace and dignity and comforted her in her final hours.
Barb was a light in our lives never to be forgotten, always to be cherished and remembered.
She will be missed.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday April 18, 2022 from 5 to 8pm at The Seniors Centre, 56 Francis Street, Kingston.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation, the Kingston Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
