Obituary of Mary Kathleen Hensman

HENSMAN, Mary Kathleen (Murray)

Graduate of St. Joseph Nursing School, Class of 1954

In her 91st year, Mary passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.  Predeceased by her parents, Mary Anne (Flanagan) Murray and John Murray.  Most adored spouse of Des Hensman, in their 64th year of marriage – a match made in heaven!  Most beautiful and loved Mother of Mary Anne (Brian), Shannon and Matthew.  Beloved and cherished grandmother of Matthew (Natalie) and Mark Wright and Alexander Hensman; and great-grandmother of Liam James. Dear sister of Vincent (Gail) Murray of Cherry Valley.  Remembered fondly by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mary grew up in Prince Edward County, Waupoos Island and Cherry Valley.  She moved to Kingston to begin her nursing career.  She worked as a nurse at Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital, and the Institute of Psychotherapy.

Mary lived a wonderful life focused on her faith and her family.  She exemplified the teachings of Jesus through her caring interactions with others and her words of wisdom to all.

The family wishes to extend their most sincere thanks for the compassion and kindness shown to Mary by Dr. Chris Frank and staff and Providence Care Hospital, Case Manager Ryan of Southeast Home and Community Support Services, CBI Nurses, St. Elizabeth PSWs and ParaMed Home Health Care.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions in Mary’s name can be made to Parkinson’s Canada or St. Mary’s Cathedral, Kingston.
