Lillian Brown

Obituary of Lillian Isabella Brown

Brown, Lillian ( Lily nee Wilcox)

Lily’s long life has come to an end, sadly two months before her 100th birthday which she was looking forward to. She passed on Tuesday, March 29th at 3:30 am at Kingston General Hospital. She is predeceased by her husband Ernie, and by her close friend and dear companion Jack Watson. Her nephew Stewart Renfrew fondly remembers the happy times when she would come to visit. Stewart’s wife Janet misses her daily chats with Lily and her stories of her family, her four brothers, and two sisters, plus her two beloved dogs Rags and Smokey. She will be missed by her thoughtful niece Diana Brown Rose, her daughters Elise and Tanya, and her niece Dorothy Stevenson. She will also be missed by her close friend Tori and her little daughter “Lily” named after her. She leaves behind her niece Dorothy and her two boys and their families and the families of her late niece Eileen and the family of her late companion Jack. Our family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Kingsdale Chateau for their excellent care and delicious food. She was an elegant person, always tastefully dressed, polite, kind, and gentle. She was doted on her whole life, first by her four brothers who were athletes. They were, in fact, grown-up by the time she was born but had always wanted a little sister. Naturally, she enjoyed watching sports, as often one of her brothers would be playing, professional hockey or soccer. After Ernie’s death from cancer, she lived alone but had many friends. Later she met Jack who doted on her as had her late husband Ernie. With Jack, she enjoyed listening to organ concerts and later trips to see family and cruises on the St. Lawrence river. She had a long and happy life.

The funeral will be held in the chapel of the James Reid Funeral Home at 1900 John Counter Blvd. Monday, April 4 at 2 pm. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Bath United church or to a charity of your choice.
