Obituary of John Alexander Jackson
JACKSON, John Alexander
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John, in Kingston, ON, on Friday, March 11, 2022, in his 86th year. John was always a gentleman with Irish charm. He fought a long valiant fight with dementia, but he never gave up and then went gently into that good night.
He loved his 30’ sailboat “Sincerity” and he and Valerie were avid sailors. He was Commodore of the Bluffer’s Park Yacht Club and was a great party man.
He worked for the Ontario Civil Service for 35 years in various senior positions and then retired to Prince Edward County where he volunteered in many organizations such as Community Care for Seniors and CFTC PELA. John and Valerie moved to Kingston in 2015.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Valerie, his son Allan (Melanie), granddaughters Anjelica and Danielle; his daughter Ann (Karl), grandsons Zachary, Spencer and Colby and by all his family and friends.
In accordance with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place at James Reid Crematorium. A Funeral Service in celebration of John’s life will be held at the Cathedral Church of St. George (corner of King Street East and Johnson Streets) in Kingston, on Tuesday, March 22 at 2:00 pm. All are welcome to attend, however, the wearing of a mask is required.
As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, or Lunch by George https://www.stgeorgescathedral.ca/give, in John’s memory.
