With profound sadness we announce that Janet May Lakins (nee Gibson), our doting wife, mother, sister, nanny, and friend has passed away on March 10, 2022. She is now at peace, reunited with her beloved son Lance.

Janet leaves behind her devoted husband of 49 years Harry Lakins, her loving son Lane Lakins (Jodie) along with her cherished sister Laura Lalande (late Tom). Forever in the hearts of her treasured grandchildren Cale, Cohen, Gibson and Jerilyn whom she affectionately called her 3 handsomes and her beauty. Fondly remembered by her brother in law Kevin Lakins, and her nieces and nephews Ryan Lalande (Julia), Karsha Lloyd (Brad) and Matt Lakins (Ashley). Predeceased by her eldest son Lance Lakins, her parents Ralph and Rhoda Gibson, her mother in law Edith Lakins and her father in law Morley Lakins (Mildred).

Known to her family and friends for her perfectly manicured nails, making the best sandwiches and her love of a great hockey game. Never one to pass up a lunch date or a toast to good times.

Sincerest thanks to Dr. Cook, the hard-working staff of Kidd 7, Davies 4 and the ICU at Kingston Health Sciences Centre along with the caring staff of Heritage 1 of Providence Care Hospital. The dedication to your profession does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated.

In lieu of a funeral service and to honour Janet’s personality, get your nails done, go to lunch with family and friends and toast a woman who has left her mark on the hearts of many.
