Obituary of Elinor Rowins

ROWINS, Frances ‘Elinor’ (nee Firth)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Frances ‘Elinor’ Rowins on March 10, 2022. She was in her 90th year and was born in Brockville, Ontario to William and Alice Firth in September 1932. Elinor is survived by her children David, Stephen (Carolyn) and Janet (Chris) and her grandchildren Tristan, Kieran, Ethan, Charlotte and Katherine. She was predeceased by her parents, her older sister Joan Firth, her cousin Douglas Dale (Muriel) and her former husband Herbert Rowins.

Elinor was first employed at Bell Telephone, stayed home to raise her children and then spent the rest of her career with the Limestone District School Board as a school secretary until she retired in 1996. She was most happy when she was sewing, gardening, swimming, doing home repairs/maintenance and loved to travel which included winning five trips in her lifetime!

Thank you to the staff at Rideaucrest Home where she spent the last 1.5 years and also to Patrick Campeau and his staff at Nurse Next Door for their kind and compassionate care during her last 3 years. Celebration of life/Memorial service with St James Church will be held at a later date. Final resting place is Cataraqui Cemetery. Memorial donations if desired, may go St James Church (Kingston), Canadian Mental Health Association, Canadian Cancer Society or your choice.
