Obituary of Phyllis Mae Mackey
MACKEY (Neill) (Hannah), Phyllis Mae (nee Peterson)
Peacefully passed away at K.H.S.C., KGH, on Monday, January 31, 2022, in her 88th year. Phyllis was the loving wife of James L. Mackey deceased (2016). She will be lovingly remembered by her stepson Barry J. Mackey (Lynne) and step grandson Jason Mackey (Carla), and children Declan, Landon, and Jensen, and stepdaughter Martha J. Brough, step grandson Timothy Brough, and children Victoria, Dakota Brough and step grandson Sean Brough. Predeceased by her husbands J.A. (Pete) Neill deceased (1964) and Charles H. Hannah deceased (1972), and her stepson Harold Hannah (Kaye) and is survived by stepdaughter Betty Hyndman (Ted), of Elliott Lake. She will be sadly missed by her special step granddaughter Carolyn L. Hannah and step great grandsons Kyle, Nathaniel, and Brendon Loomis, Union City, Indiana. Predeceased by her parents Phillip J. Peterson and Susan E. (Jean) (nee Hayes). Longtime friend of Lillian Armstrong, Norma Faulkner, the late Marlene Hawkey, and sisters-in-law Wilda Neill and Marjorie Neill (deceased). Will be sadly missed by several cousins, nieces, nephews and all the friends she made over the years.
Phyllis was a Member of Cataraqui United Church since 1964 and sang in the choir for over 40 years. Past Member of Kingston Chapter Sweet Adelines for 18 years. Charter member of the Thyroid Foundation of Canada and Archivist for 18 years. Avon representative for 25 years. Worked at Canadian Army Staff College as Photographer and Draughtsman for 18 years and Queen’s University in the Visual Arts Center as Photographer and Draughtsman for 18 years.
Phyllis’ family will receive friends at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, on Friday, February 4th from 11:00 am until time of funeral service in the chapel at 1:00 pm. Following the service there will be a private family burial at the Cataraqui Cemetery. Due to reduced capacity all guests must RSVP to the funeral home at 613-544-3411, daily 9 -5, to register attendance for the visitation and service and show their QR Enhanced Vaccine Certificate and photo ID when they arrive. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
