Obituary of Richard Stanley Symes

RICHARD STANLEY (DICKIE) SYMES
November 19, 1941 - January 21, 2022

Tim Horton's lost a loyal customer and Pittsburgh Steelers lost a faithful fan.
We lost our father, an exeptional brother (most of the time), a great uncle,
encouraging grandparent and a supportive influence for Donna's extended family.

Richard was the loved partner of Donna Kingsbury, father of Robin Mathew Symes and Scot Richard
Symes, siblings Heather DeQuetteville, Maxine Symes and Stewart Symes (Annie), grandchildren
Ryan and Gabe Symes. Thankful to the mother of his children Donna Vittorio.  Predeceased
by his parents, Stanley Glascott Symes, Marguerite Shine Symes (Boyce) and brother Mark
Montgomery Symes.

In his early years,Richard an alumnai of QECVI, was involved in sports during those school
years and for many years post secondary. His first love was football followed by golfing and
the horse races.  When he was no longer able to participate physically in sports, he reviewed
the stats of his favourite horses and football teams (Toronto Sun daily newspaper) and enjoyed
a bet or two.  He enjoyed every opportunity to play golf with his sons, nephews and siblings
and we will all remember his unique swing.

Richard loved to travel, cruise and concerts.  He also enjoyed many a summer at his trailer.

He also had a varied career following in his father footsteps in the laundry/dry cleaning business
in hospital and hotel laundries throughout Ontario. Eventually he decided he was just happier working
for the City of Kingston in the parking garage before it was automated.  Life is full of surprises.

Thanks for Arbour Heights staff on Smuggler's Cove, he was very appreciative of your care
particularly during COVID, especially Marilyn, Nicole and Mary Ellen.

Following Richard's wishes there will be no service or memorial, a cremation has been entrusted to James Reid Funeral Home. If desired, raise a glass to Richard and listen to Bohemian Rhapsody.

He will be missed.
