Obituary of Margaret Anne Milner

Margaret Anne Milner (neé Neatby), aged 69, died peacefully at home in Kingston on December 16th surrounded by the love of her family and her two children. She was born in Barrie, Ontario, and grew up travelling frequently with her military family. She graduated with a BSc in Physiotherapy from Queen’s University in 1977.

Margaret married Richard Grant Milner at Christ Church in Kingston on August 30, 1973. She and Richard raised two children: Lindsay (Marc), and Christopher. Marg and Rick were a loving aunt and uncle to their nieces and nephews: David, Stuart, Patricia, Antonia, Phil, Shawna, Courtney, and Dayna.  She is survived by her mother Marian, her brothers Perry (Anne) and Bruce (Jennifer), and her sister Barbara, as well as her parents-in-law, Howard and Joan, and her brother-in-law Bryan (Pat). She was preceded in death by her husband Rick and her father Phil.

After leaving physiotherapy to raise her two children, Margaret went on to become a piano teacher, and introduced many children and adults to the joys of music. Margaret always had a kind, giving and patient nature. She always sought to serve her community, and was actively involved with her church community singing in the choir, helping those in need, leading the seniors group and writing the Catalyst newsletter for several years. She will be missed especially by her special circle of friends who were such a source of love and support for her: Penny, Linda, Heather, Judi, Sue, Nancy and Susan. Margaret also loved art, animals and nature, and enjoyed painting scenes from her award-winning garden, her cottage, her family and her imagination.

A private funeral service and reception will take place at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church on January 7th. Due to pandemic restrictions, the service will be by invitation only, however the family invites you to attend virtually at the following link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipsDX6gT3QU
