Obituary of Bev Boyd
Beverley Maxine Boyd (Stout)
1938-2021
It is with heavy hearts that her family announces the passing of Beverley Boyd at home on the morning of November 27, 2021.
Bev was born and raised in Welland, Ontario. The only daughter among five brothers, she learned early how to stand up for herself and be heard. After high school, she studied nursing at St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto where she met Doug. They married in 1963 and moved to Cambridge, England. While Doug completed his PhD, Bev nursed at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Jennifer was born in 1966. Later that year they moved to Columbus, Ohio, and Catherine was born in 1967. They moved to Ottawa in 1972 where they raised their family. Bev nursed at the Ottawa Civic and then the Queensway Carleton Hospital until they moved to Kingston in 1988.
Bev had a lust for travel – across North America and to points afar - Norway, Denmark, Russia, Austria, Italy, France, Spain, Japan, Argentina, Costa Rica, and Australia.
She was fiercely competitive - in sports, cards, and honest conversation.
She was adventurous – the first to jump into the ocean waves, go down the waterslide, line up for the roller coaster.
She was generous to a fault and advocated on behalf of herself and others.
She was a woman of immeasurable faith, an active member of both Christ Church Bells Corners in Ottawa and St. James in Kingston.
Her greatest pride was her family, especially her three grandchildren. She travelled often to be at as many of their special events as possible – cheering loudly at swim meets, hockey, volleyball and basketball tournaments, volunteering at ballet recitals and school events, celebrating birthdays and graduations.

Bev is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Doug; their two daughters, Jennifer MacDonald (Tom) and Catherine (Scott Willoughby); and her three grandchildren, Matt, Emma and Jack. She is also survived by brothers Jack, Vern (Solveg) and Ray (Louise); sisters-in-law, Gwen Morphy (Lorne), Sue Van Exan (Rob) and Janice Boyd; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father George, mother Myrtle, and brothers Brian and Russ.
A service will be held Saturday December 4 at 11:00 am at St James Anglican Church, 10 Union Street, Kingston, Ontario. Proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 will be required at the door.
