Obituary of Peter James Good

Peter Good

1946 - 2021

A life well lived by a man well loved.  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Good, eldest son of Hugh and Vera Good, on November 25th, 2021.

Peter will be remembered with great love and affection by his best friend Jane to whom he was married for 50 wonderful years; by his children Allison and Patrick, son-in-law Anthony, his beloved grandchildren Carter and Hugo, brothers Douglas (Cathy) and Michael (Mary Anne). He will be long missed by extended family, friends, students, acquaintances and his community. To meet Peter was to know Peter, and it was a pleasure to know him.

As a partner, a parent, a friend, a neighbour, a teacher, a birder, a gardener, a steward of the environment, Peter listened carefully, smiled warmly and lived generously.  Over their years together on “the farm,” Peter and Jane hosted many visitors and pursued many projects, and with each one Peter would share his knowledge with warmth and wit.  Peter was as down-to-earth as they come, and he left this world the way he lived in it – quietly, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by those he loved most, with his list of recent bird sightings close at hand.

The family will receive visitors at the James Reid Reception (please use rear entrance), 1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston on Friday December 10th from 2:00 - 5:00 PM where COVID protocols, including proof of vaccination, ID and masks, will be in place. Unlike his Grade 9 science classes, attendance is optional. In his 47 years at the farm Peter always enjoyed an impromptu visit from neighbours and friends and took great pleasure in the daily routine of going to the mailbox to check for notes from near and far.
