Obituary of Adolf Wenzel Benedikt
Adolf Benedikt
1929 -2021
It is with great sadness that we inform family and friends that Adolf passed away Monday, September 27, 2021, two days prior to his ninety second birthday. He was a devoted family man and loving husband of Angelika (predeceased), proud father of Peter (Rena), Ingrid (Mike), Will, Herb, Michael (Donna), Connie (Damien); loving grandfather of Steve, Tammy, Ryan, Lisa, Kristin, Shaun, Jamie, Michelle, Melissa, Brian, Sarah, and cherished by thirteen great grandchildren.
Adolf was born on September 29, 1929 in the small village of Gstom Sudetenland, now Czechoslovakia, where he lived with his family until 1945 when they, with millions of others were expelled and forced to relocate in Germany. Resilient, he made a new life in Oberstaufen, a small town in Bavaria where he became a skilled locksmith, married the love of his life and started a family of his own. In 1958 he with his family immigrated to Kingston, having heard that Canada was the land of opportunity. Once again, times were difficult. He worked hard, became a millwright, foreman, and superintendent and was recognized for his expertise in the construction industry. After he retired Adolf enjoyed hunting, travel with his wife and quality family time.
