To all the Murdoch family, we send you our deepest sympathy for the loss of your wonderful Sharon. Sharon was truly one of the brightest lights I have known. We met about 1978 or 9, while bringing Bellevue House to life in our period costumes for thousands of tourists and school groups, and we spent 4 summers together. Sharon, or “Lavendar Burdock” as we nicknamed her, was outgoing, very bright, beautiful, exceptionally funny, multilingual, a natural teacher, a piper, singer, crocheter, calligrapher, actor, diplomat, and always gave work her all. From teaching us all how to make a full Mexican feast, to helping her serve cakes at the Folklore Scottish Pavilion, to her 5 a.m. brunch for the Royal wedding, Sharon had a incredible and contagious zest for life. She was a loyal and wonderful friend. I remember her as french teacher, theology student at Wycliffe (where I had lived earlier as a grad student in Drama), then for many years as an ordained Anglican priest then Bishop serving northern communities. Sharon faced her illness with grace, love, humour and exceptional courage. I know she was very well-loved and nurtured by her wonderful family and many friends. Sharon will be missed by so many whose lives she brightened. I feel very lucky to have known her and will think of her when I look at the evening sky, as one of the brightest, most sparking stars. With much love, Sarah Gibson-Bray and Carl, Emma and James.
