It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Marian Karagianis (nee Hawker) on Saturday, 28 August 2021, with her family by her side. Born in Nottingham England on 07 September 1936, Rita is survived by her loving husband John Donald Karagianis, daughters Arlene Altman (Rob) and Dana Karagianis, son John Karagianis (Jackie), and grandchildren Jacqueline (Patt), Megan, Brett (Bonnie), Sarah, Michael and Christopher. She will be fondly remembered by her great grandchildren Juliette, Louise and Brooklyn, as well as extended family and friends near and far, including numerous nieces and nephews in the UK. Rita met her husband while he served in England with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Married for 66 years, Rita enjoyed a rich life and embarked on numerous postings around Western Europe and Canada, before settling down in Victoria, BC in 1978, eventually relocating to Kingston, Ontario in 2006 to reside closer to their children.

At Rita’s request, she was cremated and a small private gathering has been organized. In lieu of flowers, a donation to an animal welfare charity of your choice is encouraged.
