Obituary of William Patrick Heyes

HEYES, William (Bill)

With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) Heyes on August 23rd, 2021 in Kingston, Ontario.

 

Bill was born in Sevenoaks, Kent, England on February 20, 1939. He moved with his family to Montreal then Winnipeg in Canada, New York City  and then finally settled in Kingston, Ontario.

 

Bill loved playing and watching sports. He had a lifetime passion for playing golf and you could often see him working on perfecting his golf swing. He also loved to play  tennis, softball, and in his later years was an avid pickleball player. He helped to raise the popularity of Pickleball in Kingston and was a member of the Kingston Pickleball league.

 

Bill loved animals and long walks. Bill also had a lifelong passion for collecting stamps. He had an impressive world collection of stamps and was a member of the Kingston Stamp Club. Finally, Bill was very interested in History and was a wealth of information on historical events.

 

Bill will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Cremation has taken place at James Reid Crematorium.  Family and friends will be received in the Reception Centre of the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, on Saturday, September 11, between the hours of 12 noon and 2:00 pm.  A private family graveside service will follow at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens with Celebrant Chris Walker presiding. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kingston Humane Society, an organization which was very close to Bill's heart.

In keeping with Covid 19 protocols, masks must be worn, physical distancing will be adhered to and contact tracing will be in place.  The family and the Funeral Home thank you for your co-operation.
