Obituary of Ynyr Clarke
Ynyr Clarke
Ynyr went to be with the Lord on Monday August 9, 2021 in his 82nd year. He passed peacefully at home with his loving wife, Nora, by his side. Ynyr and Nora, both born and raised in Northern Ireland, were married in 1967 before immigrating to Canada a year later to begin a new adventure together. Ynyr was a devoted dad to his three girls, Wendy (Brian), Cathy (Malcolm) & Pamela (Kyle), and proud father-in-law to three fantastic sons. Ynyr deeply cherished time spent with family, especially his eight wonderful grandchildren: Jillian, Owen & Caleb Stewart; Rachel, Louise & Olivia McChesney; and Henry & Claire Amirault. Predeceased by his brothers Alwyn and Wilbert, Ynyr will be missed by his brother Ian and sister Audrey and many nieces and nephews along with countless family and lifelong friends from near and afar.
A long-time resident of Guelph Ontario, Ynyr’s last place of work was NGF Canada where he retired in 2004. He enjoyed playing soccer and mountain biking in his younger years and, in his later years, vacationing in Ireland, walking around the block, watching soccer and ‘pottering about’ his home on Brentwood. He would often be found sitting on his front porch waving and chatting to friends and neighbours as they passed by. Ynyr was known for his sense of humour, devotion to his family, strong work ethic, ‘can do’ attitude and his thriftiness. Since Ynyr loved a good bargain, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity on his behalf.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Kondor, nurses from CBI, staff at Home and Community Care and the many friends and family who have lovingly supported us during the recent months following Ynyr's cancer diagnosis.
A private celebration of life will be held on Sunday August 15.
