Obituary of Philly Cochrane

 Philomena Marion Cochrane (nee Melanson)

July 26, 1927 – July 22, 2021

Just four days shy of her 94th birthday, Philomena left us in her sleep to join her beloved  late husband Roy.

The last surviving sibling of a large family, one of Philly’s greatest joys was raising six children of her own with her husband, initially in their home province of Nova Scotia before making Kingston their home in the 1960s. Left to mourn and treasure memories of Philly are her six children, their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Philly will be remembered for her strength, kindness and gentle soul, and from her more independent days as a friendly Woolco sales associate, for her delicious home cooked meals and desserts and having the patience to find and fit in the last puzzle pieces. She loved winters spent with her husband in Florida and always looked forward to her Sunday drives around eastern Ontario.

Lovingly cared for in her final years by her youngest daughter, the family is forever grateful to Liz.

Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
