Dear Mark, It has been a long time.
Maybe even longer for Gary and Guy.
To you all I am very sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing.
When I learned of this, I was immediately transported back in time, back to the corner of Aberfoyle Road and Inverness Crescent, the golf course and the early days of Jane Avenue.
So many great times lots of very fond memories.
What I remember very vividly is your dad Mr. Forbes to me yelling at Guy to get out of the damn glass in that thick Jamaican accent and tone that made you stop dead in your tracks even if it wasn’t your name he was saying this was when you had just moved into Jane Avenue. I still mimic this to this day though I likely butcher the true tone and accent.
The other memory that came flooding back to me is who scratched the Lincoln? I remember bombing around on the minibike on a summer day I think, we were having a great day and then a scratch was discovered by your Dad again Mr. Forbes to me and I think that ended our day?
I can hear your voice Mark the way you would wave out some words in an effort to have your Dad give way for a thoughtful investigation as only you could do, so quickly and even in the middle this crisis you had that chuckle that I can faintly remember that would generally put people at ease and they would want to hear your side of it or your story. Though I don’t think it play out that way this time.
I hope that my memories bring back some great memories for you as well at this time.
My deepest sympathy,
Your Friend,
Donny
