Obituary of Jean-Charles Young

Young, Jean-Charles

It is with a heavy heart we announce that Jean-Charles Young (JC, Jessie) has passed away at the age of 70. JC is survived by his wife Julie, his 3 daughters Shelley, Amy (John), Beverly (Anthony) and his 8 grandchildren Nevan, Ethan, Cameron, Kirstyn, Gabrielle, Maeghan, Madeleine and Natalie. He leaves behind his 7 brothers and sisters Emery, Louise, Rene, Gerald (June), Francoise (Richard), Georges (Lise) and Roger (Solange), his sister and brother-in-laws Linda, Paul (Karen), Sandra and Leon and many cousins, nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews.

JC was born in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. After school he joined the Canadian Navy and was a sonar man assigned to the HMCS Sagenuay out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. There he met Julie (Gray). He and Julie were married in 1970 and started their family in 1973. After the Navy he became a Sales Representative for various companies and got to travel to many destinations in Canada, the US and around the world. He has spent the majority of his life with Julie and their kids living in Ontario. Most recently he lived in Kingston, Ontario. Following a complicated surgery in 2010 he was confined to a wheelchair. He has been strong and resilient despite all of these challenges and has enjoyed the past 11 years getting to know his 8 grandchildren.

JC loved the outdoors, music and spending time with his family and good friends. He always had a story and a laugh to share. He will be greatly remembered and missed by everyone.

The family thanks the staff members at Kingston General Hospital and his doctors for their dedication, support and understanding these past few weeks. A very special thank you to Marty Elliott and his wonderful staff who have been such a wonderful support for JC and Julie since they moved to Kingston.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to one of the following charities:

Heart and Stroke, Canadian Cancer Society, U.H.K.F. (Autism, Endometriosis, , Fibromyalgia Department).

Due to COVID restrictions the funeral will be limited to immediate family only and a celebration of life will take place when guidelines allow. To view the live stream service please CLICK HERE
