It is with heavy hearts the family of Verna Yvonne Waller (nee Cull) announce her passing after a lengthy battle with Covid 19, at Oshawa general hospital, in her 85th year.
Verna was born in Great Brehat, Newfoundland on March 17, 1937. She was married to William R. Waller on December 31, 1959.
She is predeceased by her daughter Judy Anne and her ex-husband William R. Waller, her parents Martha Penney and father Abel Cull, her siblings Harold, Kharis, Ross, Blanche, Gordon, and Selma.
She is survived by her children, William jr, Jane Barker, Julie Fletcher (Bob) and her grandchildren Elizabeth Young, William Fletcher, and her two great grandchildren Olivia, and Gabby. Also survived by her brothers Glossen, and Melvin, and her many nieces and nephews.
Those of you that knew Verna, know of her incredible sewing skills, quilting, crocheting, and knitting.
Verna was a nursing graduate, part of which brought her to Ontario. She sang in her church choir, taught Sunday school, she was proud of her faith and read scripture daily. She saw the beauty in everything. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and shared a special bond with her grandson William. She taught us love, and compassion and taught us the importance of nature, took us camping, skiing, and snowshoeing. We will cherish our memories.
At Verna’s request, cremation has taken place, and due to covid 19, a quiet family gathering will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe be made to Canadian diabetes association or Canadian mental health association.
