Obituary of Delbert Earl Barberstock
Barberstock, Delbert
1941-2021
The family of Delbert Barberstock is saddened to announce his sudden but peaceful passing on April 16, 2021 in his 81st year at Kingston General Hospital.
Del, “Pops” or “Cubby” was very simply a one in a million man. A kinder gentler soul than Del’s would be hard to find. Del was many things in his life but his proudest roles were that of husband, father and grandfather. Del loved music, especially country music, Del played the harmonica and loved to dance. And sports, he could do anything he tried, baseball, bowling, horseshoes, playing golf with his best buddy Wayne O’Connor or his favourite pastime, playing league pool with his many friends at Legion Branch 631.
His work life was varied but Del took great pride in all that he did whether it was painting a water tower 100 feet above the ground or working as a maintenance man at the Belleville General Hospital.
He is predeceased by his parents Marion and Phil Wise, brothers Teddy and Paul, brother-in-law Norm, his beloved grandmother Sarah and Carman Brant.
Del will be sorely missed by his loving wife and partner of 44 years, Bernice, his daughter Spring, (Grant) his grandchildren, Ryley, Taylor, (Nate) Caileigh, (Jason) and Spencer and by his many family members including, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Del is survived by his sisters Carol, Phyllis (Paul), Brenda, Evelyn (Cal), Esther (Vince).
Del’s family would like to thank the incredible nurses in the dialysis unit, his physicians, Drs Brown and Zelt and all the frontline workers that made Del’s life with diabetes and dialysis comfortable. A special thank you to Dr. Greg Patey, Del’s family physician of over 30 years whose contribution to Del’s quality of life is so appreciated.
A celebration of Del’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Diabetes Canada.
