"Cookie"
1942 - 2021
It is with great regret the family announces the sudden
passing of Roger at the KGH Emergency on Wednesday April
14, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife Brenda, his son
Randy and his daughter Tami (Jeff), his two stepsons Mark
(Tara) and Jason (Deanna), his eight grandchildren, Lindsy
(Jordon), Bernie (Ashley), Cody (Celine), J Richard, Chelsea
(Brendan), Jennifer Rae (Cole), Kaitlyn and Emma, his six
great-grandchildren, Avery, Scarlette, Hannah, Lauren,
Savannah and Addison, his siblings Sandra Lusk (Ken), Hugh E,
Susan (Terry), and Jeanne, fondly remembered by his nieces
and nephews.
Roger was predeceased by his parents John Rothwell (Jack)
Cooke and Elizabeth Doreen as well as his oldest sister
Charlotte Anne.
Roger was born and raised in Kingston Ontario. His
tremendous skills as a guitarist provided him with the honour
of opening for Roy Orbison in concert as well as being a
member of the Bob McCord and the Vibrations from 1961 to
1965 with fellow band members Bob McCord, Al Duff, Keith
McDonnell, Tom Bennett and Pat Byrne.
He was the founder of Cookie the Sweep which has served
the Kingston and area for the past 44 years.
He was a lifetime member of the OBVMC.
Roger will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his
family and his “Brothers and Sisters” of his extended family.
Roger has been cremated. A drive by visitation will be
held at James Reid Funeral Home at 1900 John Counter Blvd.
