Obituary of Gary James Fowler
Fowler; Gary James – Passed away peacefully with his immediate family by his side after a courageous battle on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the age of 76. Survived by his beloved wife and soul-mate of 54 years; Linda (nee Ryder), his mother Rilla Fowler (nee Ball) and sister Susan Sheridan (John). He was incredibly proud of his cherished children Brent Fowler (Jennifer) and Steacy Matthey (Chris) and 5 grandchildren; Nicholas, Quinn, Jacob, Kailee and Keenan. His fur baby Huey will miss his playmate. Predeceased by his father James Fowler. He will be fondly remembered by all his other extended family, friends and teammates in the Firefighting Community.
The family would like to invite you to a visitation at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd on Sunday, March 14, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm or on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. There will be a private service by invitation only on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 11:00 am. The service will be live-streamed for those that cannot attend in person, please CLICK HERE. Memorial donations can be made to University’s Hospital Kingston Foundation – Cancer Centre of South Eastern Ontario or to Kingston Professional Firefighters Benevolent Fund.
The family would like to express their immense gratitude to nurses from Kidd 9, Kingston Health Sciences Centre; Miriam, Mackeila and Tammy, Doctor Anna Tomiak, Doctor Danielle Kain and Doctor Julianne Bagg for giving Gary the best care possible. Paramedic Scott was paramount in ensuring Gary was able to get the care he needed. The team, including Natasha and Maggie at St. Elizabeth Healthcare made Gary’s days at home comfortable. The family would also like to thank all the other frontline hospital workers that helped Gary through his brief illness.
