Obituary of Irene Bauder
Our feisty and funny mother, Nanny and Great-Nanny passed away Monday, December 30th, 2019 in her 87th year. Irene was predeceased by her husband and the love of her life Sheldon, her eldest son Clifford, her son-in-law Cecil Murray, granddaughter-in-law Kym Murray and her best friend Dorthea Stone, all of whom were no doubt waiting to greet her.
Irene will be missed by her daughters Judy Phillips (Allan), Stella McWhirter (George), her son Kenneth (Roxanne), her beloved grandchildren Jason Murray, Jamie-Lynn Murray, Brooke Phillips-Janisse (James) and Bradley Phillips (Misty Knapp). Irene was a special Great-Nanny to Breeanna, Hannah, Marley, Aelwyn and Eli.
A hard working mother and wife, Irene was well known for her years as a cashier at the Dominion Store. She was an avid baker, knitter, traveller and above all, animal lover. In Irene's memory, donations to the Kingston Humane Society would be deeply appreciated by the family.
Our entire family would like to thank the staff at Arbour Heights for their loving care as Irene battled dementia in her final years. Irene will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, son and mother in a family service at a future date.
I am standing at the seashore, a ship sails in the morning breeze and starts for the ocean. She is an object of beauty and I stand watching her til at last she fades on the horizon and someone at my side says "she is gone." Gone! Where? Gone from my sight is all. The diminished size and total loss of sight is in me, not in her, and just at the moment when someone at my side says "she is gone" there are others who are watching her coming, and other voices take up a glad shout: "Here she comes."
