It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kiran Acharya, age 75, following a long battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2019, surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of his home.
He is survived by his wife and companion of 48 years, Shaila Acharya; sons Ameet, Neil and Raj; daughters-in-law Purvi and Jean; brothers Ashok "Art" Acharya (Anjana), Mahen "Mike" Acharya (Jyoti) and Satish Acharya (Geeta); and sister Raksha Bhatt (Pradip). He was beloved grandpa or "dada" to his four grandchildren Kian, Jaiman, Cameron and Katherine.
Kiran immigrated from Nairobi, Kenya to Carbonear, Newfoundland in October 1967, seeking new opportunity and adventure. He moved to Kingston, Ontario in 1985 with his young family. He will be best remembered for his love of our great country Canada, his love for the continent of Africa where he was born, his love for a good laugh and his favourite hockey team, the Boston Bruins.
Resting at the James Reid Funeral Home located at 1900 John Counter Blvd in Kingston, Ontario. Visitation on Tuesday, December 10, from 11:00 - 1:30 p.m. with funeral services following at 1:30 p.m. in the James Reid Funeral Home chapel.
Kiran's family is grateful to all of the doctors, nurses and support workers that provided so much care and kindness, especially over the past few months.
