Gerald Van Luven Roney III

Gerry Roney passed away November 21, 2019, his 65^th birthday.  Gerry had been  a dedicated teacher at Smiths Falls Vocational Institute, now retired and enjoying life on Hill Island, his little piece of heaven, amongst the wildlife and the smell of wood fires.

Beloved son of Gerald Van Luven Sr. and Marian Joan Roney (nee MacMillan predeceased).

He will be deeply missed by siblings Michael, Stephen, Diana, and Christopher Roney,

and by the McCourt family, Judy, Cathy, Joe, Pat, Mary, Christine, David, and Vicky,

his cousins and lifelong friends.

Gerry also had a devoted circle of friends in Portugal,

which had in latter years become his second home.

Among his loves, Gerry  was an avid collector and restorer of vintage Volvos. and an avid non-fiction reader. He would tell family and friends never to go the hardware store; chances were that he could provide whatever tool or part was required.

And he was right.

Gerry was also a modest but most accomplished jazz guitarist. Others will know him for his years hosting and fostering the Kingston Folk Festival. His riffs will be missed,

but his memory will forever resonate.
