Obituary of Jean Shaw Martin

Jean Martin 

February 12, 1932 – November 5, 2019 

With grace, dignity and courage after a long battle with COPD, Jean left this world peacefully on her own terms after saying goodbye to her loving family. Waiting to greet her were her sons Tommy (July, 1977) and Jim (April, 1995) who pre-deceased her. 
Beloved wife and soulmate for 66 years to Thomas Martin and devoted mother and best friend to Linda Compeau (Gary). Cherished grandmother to Douglas, Derrick, Bruce (Kristi), Scott (Jessica), Kyle, Martina Compeau and Shayne Jarvis (Nicole). Proud great-grandmother to Oliver, Maya, Max, Angus, Forrest and Brynley. 
Jean was born in Glasgow, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in October, 1966 with her husband and three children and settled in Kingston. She was a long time employee of KGH until her retirement in 1989. She was a warm, loving woman with a heart of gold and a smile that would light up a room right up until the very end. 
Thank you to the staff of Connell 9 for their care and compassion in her final weeks and to all the medical team she saw throughout her journey. In keeping with Jean’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. 
As a tribute to Jean please give away some beautiful smiles today! 
RIP Mom – you can breathe freely again.
